Lavender Lullaby
Lavender Fields have again sparked my interest! It's a big nod to summer once the lavender has decided to bloom, and although everything else this year seems to be blooming late, the lavender seems to be flowering earlier than last year! Below is my first run through for 'Lavender Lullaby' and I can already see that once again, my work could use more contrast... . Probably not an unusual effect for the northwest artist!

Back to the River
After a long weekend, I found myself dodging the rain by driving up into the Gorge again today. It was a social day, as many tourists stopped in their tracks to spend a moment or two with me and my art. The en plein air painting below was done at the roadside Viewpoint.
Looking at it now, I can see where a stronger line to define the exact place where water and land meet might give the painting structure and a place for the eye to rest upon and follow. Learning to be brave and adding this kind of 'calligraphy' is something for me to embrace!

Invasive Species Art Project
Saturday May 21st, I had the pleasure of painting at Lower Macleay Park, where an art project was taking place. Artist Graham Klag organized volunteers to gather Ivy from Forest Park. Then with their help, wove the Ivy into a sculpture. The final stage included a live concert with the musicians and listeners alike gathering around the newly transformed open space with the organic sculpture.
