Painting at Nance's

Painting at Nance's studio has become a favorite way to spend an afternoon for me. I get to jump in and begin the session fresh each week. Below is an 'alla prima' oil painting I was able to complete before the session timed out, a real accomplishment for me!

'Keeping Warm'  Oil on Canvas  M.V.S.

Painting tonight seemed to channel a person from the late thirties for me tonight. Thoughts of riding a lonely train, during a cold winter evening.  This painting was done on canvas paper, so I could work as large as I wanted. After putting in a couple of hours post session, I began to find the visual 'voice' I was looking for in the work.
